Short bio: Janiel is a first generation student and the daughter of immigrants from El Salvador and Mexico. She completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Oregon as a double major in Ethnic Studies and Family & Human Services. Having grown up in the Pacific Northwest, she loves the fall season, rain and day trips to the Oregon coast. She loves to read, travel and spend time with her family. After graduation Janiel hopes to enter the field of Higher Education policy and advocate for innovation and equitable reforms that make academia more accessible to underrepresented minority students.
